As society is approaching the new era of digital economy, city operations and management tend to be more transparent, driven by the development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and space information technologies.

For effective construction of a smart city, an integrated and ubiquitous sensor network, a unified big data platform and personalized applications should be included, among other factors.

The first two constitute the basic information infrastructure required to build a smart city, and unification of data is the key. Thus, a smart city should have a unified data center and data platform.
