Guangzhou Award in the 5th Regional 3R Forum in Asia and the Pacific held in Indonesia
From Feb 25 to 27, at the invitation of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) Asia-Pacific Section, Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation (the Guangzhou Award) attended the Fifth Regional 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) Forum in Asia and the Pacific and the 2014 Green Technology Innovation Expo, which were held in Surabaya, Indonesia. The representatives went to Surabaya on a trip aiming at promoting the 2nd Guangzhou Award. The forum this year attracted nearly 500 attendees from 38 countries, including government officials, academicians and corporate representatives.
The representatives set up stands and delivered presentations for the promotion of Guangzhou Award, drawing great attention and positive comments from a number of forum attendees, including the secretary general of UCLG ASPAC, the minister of Environmental Production Department of Indonesian and the director of Environment Department of Penang, Malaysia.
In 2012, Surabaya has submitted four projects as entries for the 1st Guangzhou Award. As the second largest city of Indonesia, Surabaya established relation of friendship city with Guangzhou in December, 2005.
