Guangzhou delegation attends UCLG Executive Bureau Meeting in Liverpool
The Executive Bureau Meeting of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) convened in Liverpool of the UK between June 17 and 19, during which in-depth discussions were conducted on the statutory issues and key programs of UCLG. A Guangzhou working group, headed by Mr. Liu Baochun, Director General of Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou, attended the executive bureau meeting on behalf of Mr. Chen Jianhua, Co-President of UCLG and Mayor of Guangzhou.
At the meeting, Director General Liu briefed the audience on the preparatory work of the 2nd Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation (the Guangzhou Award) and invited members of the executive bureau to participate in the events of the 2nd Guangzhou Award, the 2014 China International Friendship Cities Conference and the 2nd Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Conference. Guangzhou won high acclaims and all-out support at the meeting for the establishment of the Guangzhou Award and its contribution to the development of urban innovation over the world. Furthermore, the proposal for setting up UCLG Community on Urban Innovation was passed unanimously at the meeting.
