C40 Waste to Resources Workshop held in Guangzhou
The C40 Waste to Resources Workshop kicks off in Guangzhou on April 10.
Guangzhou was put in the global spotlight at the C40 Waste to Resources Workshop held in the city from April 10 to 14.
Organized by Guangzhou Municipal Government and C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40), the workshop included an opening ceremony, two sub forums, workshops and field trips.
It is the first time for the two organizers to hold such a workshop, attracting some 200 participants from C40 member cities across the globe.
Mr. Zeng Kaizhang, Deputy Secretary General of Guangzhou Municipal Government, attended and addressed the opening ceremony on April 11.
He mentioned that Guangzhou would take the opportunity of the workshop to deepen cooperation with C40. The city will draw on its experience from global excellent practices on solid waste management and promote the establishment of a waste disposal system in accordance with the international high standard.
Mr. Liu Renhuai, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering also gave a keynote speech at the event.
Zeng met with C40 officials and city representatives at the welcome dinner, where they held in-depth discussions over enhancing cooperation between Guangzhou City and C40 and promoting the development of low-carbon economies among cities across the world.
During the five-day workshop, the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation held an exhibition showcasing its excellent initiatives on waste management.
