The first Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation, Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Conference and Metropolis Board of Directors Meeting ( Guangzhou Award and the two international conferences) are scheduled to be held on November 14-17. Thirty activities will be held during this period. As things stand today, preparations for all activities are set and ready. The final review for the Guangzhou Award will be concluded on November 14, through which the review committee of the Guangzhou Award headed by Dr. Joan Clos, executive director of UN Habitat and deputy secretary-general of the United Nations will select five winning cities from the fifteen nominated cities that have stood out in the preliminary round of evaluation. The list of the five winning cities will be officially revealed at the awarding ceremony of the Guangzhou Award scheduled to be held on the evening of November 16. Apart from the awarding ceremony, other important activities will be held, including Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Exhibition, Seminar on City Economy and Trade for Guangzhou International Sister Cities, the opening ceremony of Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Conference and Metropolis Board of Directors Meeting, Friendship Tree Planting and Announcement of the Guangzhou Declaration. The organizing committee has set up a special operation team to ensure the success of the Guangzhou Award, the two international conferences and other relevant activities. To ensure that every item of the agenda goes well, the operation team has devised detailed plans for every activity and has conducted drills for major activities.
