Commissioned by Mr. Chen Jianhua, Mayor of Guangzhou and also Co-President of UCLG, a delegation from Guangzhou has joined others in Porto Alegre, Brazil for the 2015 Executive Bureau of UCLG. The delegation was led by Mr. Ling Weixian, vice chairman of the People’s Congress of Guangzhou Municipality, who gave a detailed report during the Executive Bureau Business Session on the outcomes of the second cycle of the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation and Urban Innovation Community’s work plan for the year 2015. Ling also sent out invitations to members and partners of the community, as well as other delegates who were also present at the session, encouraging them to take an active part in the series of field study activities to the 15 cities whose initiatives had been shortlisted in the 2nd Guangzhou Award in the following months. Over the four-day event, the delegation also met with members from UCLG Presidency, World Secretary, Sections and Committees. Other sessions included the Financial Management Committee and Committee on Statutory Affairs.
