Acting president and co-president of Metropolis meet in Guangzhou
The acting President of Metropolis and Mayor of Montreal Denis Coderre met with his counterpart Mr. Chen Jianhua, Mayor of Guangzhou and Co-President of Metropolis during his recent visit to China from October 31 to November 6.
Coderre and his delegation came to China on the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the last stop of their visit was Guangzhou, where the delegation was warmly received by the city authority.
Coderre and Chen had a meaningful bilateral meeting on the morning of November 6. Chen congratulated Coderre on his new position as the acting President of Metropolis. Coderre thanked Chen for Guangzhou city’s hospitality; he promised to do his utmost to run the organization and improve services for its members. The two mayors also exchanged views on growing bilateral ties between Guangzhou and Montreal by conducting joint programs.
During the visit, Coderre and his delegation had the chance to take field trips to some of the landmarks of Guangzhou city, such as Tianhe Central Business Area, Flower City Plaza and Haixinsha where the 2010 Asian Games was held.
