Nanning kitchen waste treatment highlighted for Guangzhou Award
A four-member delegation from Guangzhou carried out a study tour to Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from Aug 22 to 24, aiming to learn more about its initiative "Kitchen Waste Resource Utilization and Harmless Treatment Plant Project of Nanning City".
Professor Azza Sirry from the Housing and Building National Research Center of Egypt was also invited and took part in the research.
The southern Chinese city of Nanning was identified as a "deserving city" for the third Guangzhou International Award Urban Innovation (Guangzhou Award) in 2016, for its kitchen waste treatment initiative highlighting 100 percent resource utilization and harmless treatment.
During the three-day investigation, Guangzhou delegates and the professor conducted field trips to restaurants and kitchen waste treatment plants involved and gained a close-up view of the whole treatment process from waste collection to harmless disposal, so as to draw on the experience and other highlights in the initiative.
Participants also carried out face-to-face exchanges with officials at Nanning City Administration Bureau and staff members of Guangxi Bioland Renewable Energy Co.
