Guangzhou Award Exhibits at the 33rd Guangzhou Fair
From August 22nd to 24th, the 33rd Guangzhou Fair, hosted by the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, was held in the China Import and Export Fair Complex. The Guangzhou Award participated in this year’s Expo, highlighting achievements in urban governance innovation and international exchange.
At the Guangzhou Award exhibition area, panels presented the award’s background, key achievements, and major events such as the Global Mayor’s Forum. Meanwhile, videos showcased the award’s international profile and outstanding cases, offering visitors a multi-dimensional view of innovative practices from cities worldwide.
On site, staff members introduced the Guangzhou Award to visitors and shared selected past cases, helping the audience gain a deeper understanding of global urban governance innovation.
The exhibition also announced that the 7th Guangzhou Award will officially launch next month, inviting applications from cities and local governments around the world. Innovative projects from members of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), the World Association of the Major Metropolises (Metropolis), ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, and other cities are all eligible to apply. The Guangzhou Award warmly invites cities worldwide to share their experiences and wisdom in innovative urban governance, promote exchange and mutual learning, and pool collective strength for sustainable urban development. Further details on applications will be released in due course.
Since its founding in 1993, the Guangzhou Fair has become a vital exchange platform for Guangzhou to leverage its role as a National Central City and the core engine of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. This year's Fair covered a total exhibition area of approximately 190,000 square meters, structured around four thematic zones: New Quality Productive Forces; the "Hundreds, Thousands, Tens of Thousands Project" and Rural Revitalization; Silver Economy, Healthcare & Wellness; and Quality Living. The Fair also featured multiple concurrent conferences and forums, further strengthening China-foreign economic and trade cooperation and driving high-quality regional development.
